Staff Profile
Harry Bailey
Research Assistant
I completed my undergraduate degree in physiotherapy at The University of Liverpool in 2013, before completing a masters degree in Sport & Clinical Biomechanics at Liverpool John Moores University in 2016. My research project was supervised by Dr Richard Foster and entitled "A biomechanical assessment of concussion: Recovery of static and dynamic stability."
A passion for understanding the complex ways in which human movement is achieved along with a desire to improve the understanding of the functional difficulties presented by cerebral palsy led me to undertake a PhD in 2017 at Liverpool John Moores University investigating the head and whole body stability of children with cerebral palsy during a functionally demanding stepping task.
Since 2021 I have been working as a Research Assistant at the Translational and Clinical Research Institute of Newcastle University in the Brain and Movement (BAM) Research Group led by Prof. Lynn Rochester. My key research focus is to explore the potential applications of wearable technology to monitor the effect of medication adherence on mobility in patients with Parkinson's Disease in free-living situations.
Outside of academia, I am a senior rugby coach working in the county development pathway of the womens and girls game in Lancashire.
Research Interests
My research interests relate to the understanding of neurological disorders and the effect these conditions have on functional movement and the performance of activities of daily living. I also have a keen interest in the use of wearable technology to collect valuable information about movement in free-living environments and how these may be used to improve the clinical management of populations with neurological impairment.
I am currently working as a Research Assistant in the Brain and Movement (BAM) Research Group led by Prof. Lynn Rochester at the Translational and Clinical Research Institute of Newcastle University.
