I am a researcher and an occupational therapist with expertise in allied health interventions delivered within the NHS, Social Care, education, and private sectors. My work focuses on children, young people, and adults affected by neurodisability, long-term conditions, activity limitations (e.g. in mobility or self-care), or participation restrictions (e.g. in community leisure activities).
My research interests are geared towards developing interventions, testing their feasibility, evaluating effectiveness, and supporting implementation in diverse community and hospital settings. Methodologically, I have conducted mixed methods and quantitative systematic reviews, systematic evidence mapping, semi-structured interviews, go-along interviews, focus groups, secondary qualitative analysis, online surveys, and Delphi methods. I am currently working within a randomised controlled trial focusing particularly on the process evaluation. I also have a strong interest in the ethics, methods, and impact of public and patient involvement and co-production.

Involvement and Co-production
I have a strong interest in the ethics, methods, and impact of public and patient involvement and co-production. My activities in this area include:
- Developing creative methods for involving disabled children and young people in research - NIHR guidance and an illustrative film
- Establishing AniMates - a research advisory group of young people with experience of neurodisability
- Involving disabled young people in co-designing future research on participation outcomes and interventions
- Working with disabled young people to interpret and disseminate the EMPoWER evidence synthesis - summary film, illustrative films and blog
- Developing a method for ethically co-producing 'patient stories' - illustrative example (publication currently being prepared)
- Involving parents and carers in teaching and training of health care professionals and clinical academics - e.g. the British Academy of Childhood Disability & Castang Foundation Fellowship Programme
I lecture on evidence based practice and research at Salford University and I have previously taught classes on qualitative research methods, including secondary qualitative analysis, at York St. John University.
I have delivered a range of keynote presentations and interactive workshops at multidisciplinary professional conferences in the UK and internationally:
