Melanie is a Research Assistant based in the Population Health Sciences Institute at Newcastle University, Ageing and Geroscience theme, supporting a programme of work for the Healthy Ageing Lead at the Department of Health and Social Care.
She comes with over five years of experience in health services research with a focus on health disparities related to substance use, behavioural health, and reproductive health. Prior to joining Newcastle University in 2022, Melanie was a Research Associate at a safety-net healthcare system in Denver, Colorado and a Program Assistant for The Carter Centre Mental Health Programme in Atlanta, Georgia.
Melanie is versed in qualitative methods in particular and has co-authored eight publications to date. She is passionate about bridging the gap between research and practice/policy.
