Working hours: Tuesday, Wednesday and every other Thursday.
I manage the research support for all pre-award activity for academics based in the Paul O'Gorman Building.
My role includes:
- providing advice and guidance on grant application processes, applying knowledge of University, Faculty and Institute policies on costing & pricing to ensure that the Institute receives maximum income within grant applications.
- Using the University's costing system to submit grant proposals.
- Administering the Institute's Internal Peer Review policy for grants.
- Overseeing the follow up of submitted grant applications with PIs and compilation of a reviewers comment report for unsuccessful applications.
- Providing statistical information on research to inform future strategy
- Identifying and disseminate appropriate external funding opportunities
I represent the research support function at Institute and Faculty meetings related to research activity and strategy.
I have worked at Newcastle University since 2003. I spent 5 years working in the Institute of Neuroscience as Research Coordinator, responsible for the costing of all pre-award applications and have extensive experience managing post award budgets.
From 2007-2012 I was PA in the Institute of Health and Society. During this time I completed an MBA, a secondment to Fuse as Administrator for the Centre for Translational Research in Public Health and a secondment to CURDS, HASS as Research Coordinator.
