UK Sensory Motor Meeting 2023

Baddiley-Clark Building, Newcastle University, 26-28 June 2023

Join us in the ‘Toon’ for the 2023 UK Sensory Motor Meeting, hosted by Newcastle University. This meeting is aimed at anyone conducting clinical or non-clinical research into the sensory motor system and aligned topics. The programme will consist of a mixture of short research talks and plenary lectures. We also invite abstracts for poster presentations. See submission details below.

The meeting will take place in the Baddiley-Clark Building, number 69 on campus maps. The meeting will begin at 1pm on Monday 26 June and conclude at 1pm on Wednesday 28 June 2023.

Between sessions there will be plenty of opportunities for relaxed discussions and the organisers invite you to join them for the conference dinner at the award winning Valley Junction restaurant on Tuesday evening.

Registration

The cost of registration is £50 and payment can be made online using with a debit or credit card using our Newcastle University Webstore. If you are unable to use this system and require an invoice please email fms.communication@newcastle.ac.uk

Included in your registration fee are refreshments throughout the three days of the meeting as well as a ticket to the conference dinner on Tuesday evening at the award winning Valley Junction restaurant in Jesmond.

Posters

If you have been invited to present a poster at the conference please note boards are 180cm tall and 90cm wide. They will accommodate an A1 poster in either portrait or lanscape but A0 only in portrait orientation.

Getting to Newcastle

The meeting will take place in the Baddily Clark Building, NE2 4BN. This is building number 69 on campus maps. It is located on Newcastle University's city centre campus. There is comprehensive travel information, both national and international on the University 'Maps and Directions' page

Newcastle Central Railway station is approximately a 20 minute walk from the conference venue and has regular direct rail services run from many UK cities. 

Newcastle Airport is located about seven miles north west of University campus and hosts regular flights to domestic and international airports.

Getting around town

The Newcastle Metro is our underground system which has stations in the city centre, train station, airport and will even take you out to our beautiful North East coast.

Uber operates in the city and you can usually hail a taxi in the city centre or at one of the city taxi ranks. Alternatively you could try a private hire firm such as:

We are unable to offer parking on campus. However, we do have a limited number of spaces for visitors with mobility issues. There are many car parks in walking distance of campus, many of which are operated by National Car Parks 

Accommodation

Our campus is based in the heart of Newcastle city centre with options to suit all tastes and budget. Please note this list is intended to be a helpful starting point rather than an endorsement or recommendation. Areas with easy access to the conference venue: city centre, quayside, Jesmond.
