Designed for healthcare professionals, Newcastle’s part-time online Clinical and Health Science programme allows you to combine modules of your choice. All you need is a reliable internet connection and a thirst for new knowledge.

Clinical and Health Sciences MSc, PGDip, PGCert 

If you're studying for a qualification in Clinical and Health Sciences you can choose which topics you want to study, from a library of 30 different 10-15 week modules.  Effectively, you build a portfolio of learning which is compatible with a modern career pathway and addresses the real needs of modern health services.  

You can opt to study a single module for continuing professional development.  At the end of your  programme, you can, if you wish to, take further modules and combine them to work towards a PG Certificate, PG Diploma or MSc. Each module that you choose to study is comprised of weekly topics that will add enrichment and breadth of learning, at whichever stage of your professional career you are at.

Clinical and Health Sciences with Ageing MSc, PGDip, PGCert

Over 20 years of focus on ageing research has positioned Newcastle University amongst a handful of global leaders in the field.  We have the largest number of academics working on aspects of ageing of any institution in Europe. This programme offers a bespoke pathway to increasing your awareness of ageing, age-related disease and research.  It is a springboard for greater evidence-based practise for clinicians and allied healthcare professionals. You will explore successful multi-disciplinary research with older people and consider the benefits and challenges of involving older people in research processes. Our programme is lead by academic and clinical staff who have experience and expertise in ageing.

Clinical and Health Sciences with Clinical Research MSc, PGDip, PGCert

Aimed at doctors, nurses, midwives, allied health professionals and aspiring clinical academics, this programme gives you the opportunity to plan, conduct and write-up clinical research that focuses on your speciality. Any of the other modules within the CHS suite can be successfully combined with the clinical research modules and students should be guided by their professional interests. Each module that you opt to study is comprised of weekly topics that will add enrichment and breadth of learning to your career journey.  If you wish to, you can study individual modules for continuing professional development.

Clinical and Health Sciences with Molecular Pathology MSc, PGDip, PGCert

If you are interested in stratified and personalised medicine and how it can optimise the diagnosis and treatment of individual patients, then this course is for you. It’s aimed at pathologists, scientists and other healthcare professionals who wish to develop expertise in the area of molecular pathology.  You will gain skills for employment in areas such as translational and stratified medicine, molecular pathology and molecular science.

The molecular pathology modules that you can choose to study are Cancer pathology and molecular applications for screening, diagnosis and treatment and molecular pathology in stratified healthcare. You will be taught by staff with experience and expertise in pathology and molecular pathology.


For 2019/20,  UK student bursaries (max value £8,040) are available to contribute to the MSc programme tuition fee for the Clinical and Health Sciences with Molecular Pathology programme.
