Clinical Research with Older People (E-learning)

This module is a critical review of the benefits and challenges of involving older people in clinical research, and strategies to improve recruitment and retention of older people to research studies in a range of settings. The module includes example of research studies involving older people as participants, but also as engaged research advisors.

Online teaching

You will interact with course material through the Blackboard virtual learning environment and will take part in individual and interactive tasks including:   

  • Guided independent study
  • Directed reading
  • Online discussion forums
  • Online quizzes
  • Reflective learning

Online assessment

You will submit your work for assessment via Blackboard virtual learning environment and will receive feedback electronically. Online assessment will be through a blend of the following:

  • Reflective report
  • Critical appraisal of a research study
  • Video-recorded presentation and telephone discussion
  • Self-assessment multiple choice tests
