On 16th June 2016 the Newcastle Academic Health Partners hosted their inaugural Research Day in the David Shaw Lecture Theatre. It was attended by 170 delegates from within the Faculty and colleagues in the Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and Northumberland Tyne & Wear NHS Foundation Trust.
The day was a mixture of symposiums, presentations and posters. The morning symposiums were led by local leaders in their field that show-cased the vision of the NAHP, challenges faced and current research activity. Over lunch delegates viewed the 77 poster contributions and the afternoon presentations were made by eight selected young researchers.
Congratulations to Ashwin Sachdeva (NICR) who was awarded best young researcher presentation and to Swathi Merugu (NICR) who won best overall poster.
Thank you to all who contributed to the day, particularly the symposium leads Prof David Burn (IoN), Prof Joseph Vormoor (NICR), Dr Steve Parry (NuTH) and Dr Michael McKean (NuTH).
