Professor John Sayer

Clin Prof of Renal Medicine

Background

I am a Clinical Professor in Renal Medicine and Honorary Consultant Nephrologist. My clinical interests in inherited kidney disease inspires my basic science research programme. Within the Institute of Genetic Medicine at Newcastle University, my laboratory studies renal genetics, stone formation and cilia proteins. My work utilises physiological and genetic techniques (including murine and zebrafish models as well as patient cell cultures) to investigate inherited cystic kidney disease and ciliopathies.
