The focus of my research is the discovery of new targets for breast cancer treatment. By using lost-of-function assays I aim to identify the molecules that are essential for breast cancer growth and progression. My previous research had a translational focus and during my six year postdoc at Columbia University and the Mount Sinai School of Medicine (New York) I gathered lots of experience in performing shRNA screenings.
I joined Newcastle University as a Faculty Fellow in May 2016. My fellowship has allowed me to continue with my research, gather data and build a strong publication record to become competitive in external fellowship applications. Since joining the University I have obtained funding from JGW Patterson Foundation and the Susan Channon Breast Cancer Trust, and published two first author papers.
Thanks to the fellowship and the support I’ve received from the Faculty, I have been awarded a Marie Sklodowska-Curie Fellowship funded by the European Union Research and Innovation Program H2020.
