Study Abroad and Exchanges

How to Apply

How to Apply

Find out if you're eligible to take part in the Erasmus+ exchange programme and how to prepare and submit your application.

Eligibility

To participate in the Erasmus+ exchange you need to be a national of an EU or EEA country.

You must have successfully completed the first year of your undergraduate degree before you can participate.

Preparing your application

The first step to prepare your application is to decide if you want to do a study or work placement. After this, you need to research your options.

Study placements

Consider the list of Erasmus partners attached to your school, and research each of them, in order to decide which one you wish to study at. You will need to look at the modules which are available to you.

Work placements

Start searching for and contacting companies where you would like to do a work placement. The Careers Service can offer advice on how best to write and present a CV, and to find out what is the best way to approach a company.

British Council Assistantships

You will need to speak to the Year Abroad Secretary in the School of Modern Languages, who will guide you through the process of applying for an Assistantship.

Next steps

Once you've decided on a partner university you need to make an appointment to see the exchange co-ordinator in your school. You should discuss the available modules to make sure that they meet the requirements of your degree programme. This is important so that you can transfer any credits back to Newcastle.

Your School Exchange Coordinator is responsible for providing you with the academic advice to make sure that your exchange activity meets the requirements of your degree programme.
