Study Abroad and Exchanges

Fees and Funding

Fees and Funding

As a participant in the Erasmus+ exchange programme you can still apply for your normal student loan or bursary, as well as an Erasmus Grant. You only pay tuition fees to Newcastle University, not to your host university.

Erasmus Grant

As a participant in the Erasmus+ programme you will be eligible to receive an Erasmus Grant. This is intended to offset the additional costs of participating in the programme, such as travel. It isn't intended to cover all living costs during your time abroad.

The Erasmus Grant is not means tested. The full amount you receive is calculated on the length of your study/work period and the country you're going to.

Additional funding

UK undergraduate participants from households with an overall annual income of £25,000 or less could be entitled to an Erasmus Widening Participation Supplement. This is only available if you're going on a study placement as part of the programme.
