Teaching Rationale And Relationship
The module uses lectures to deliver key information relevant to the subject and to provide information upon which the students can extend their learning by private study, using on-line resources provided to accompany lecture material. The small group teaching allows broader discussion of relevant scientific publications and gives the students experience in critical evaluation. Students will practise their poster presentation skills in Semester 1, which will be of relevance to the final year project poster presentations in ACE3190 at the end of Semester 2.
The format of resits will be determined by the Board of Examiners

Assessment Rationale And Relationship
The exam tests the students' abilities to produce clear and concise essays on topics which require integration of information from the lectures and additional reading and in particular to justify the views expressed by reference to appropriate experimental evidence. The poster presentation is the culmination of analysis of a recently published paper and tests the students' abilities to present a scientific piece of work in a precise and timely manner.
