Climb a Virtual Mountain Challenge

Step into action! Climb the equivalent of a famous mountain this March to help future generations of Newcastle graduates overcome the steep hurdles they face in reaching their potential.

Getting into university and succeeding in your studies can sometimes feel like climbing a mountain. And students from disadvantaged backgrounds have to fight even harder to reach the summit.

You can support these future Newcastle graduates to access the same opportunities and university experiences you have benefitted from. By tackling our Climb A Virtual Mountain challenge this March and raising money for the Newcastle Student Fund, you will be providing a helping hand to our most vulnerable students, helping them overcome the barriers they face to reaching their potential. Plus, you can achieve your 2024 fitness goals while you're at it!

Will you climb a mountain for Newcastle students? Choose one of the three challenge levels below and complete the necessary steps in March to make a difference.

The difference you will make

Our aim is to give each student the skills and experiences they need to thrive while with us, and in their future.

We don't want any student to miss out on what makes belonging to Newcastle University so special. With your help, we can fund scholarships, society memberships, sports equipment, field trips and more. We can also open the door to future students from all backgrounds by:

  • Working with a network of local schools to encourage pupils to explore their options.
  • Providing Sanctuary Scholarships for students from asylum seeker and refugee backgrounds.
  • Hosting an annual PARTNERS summer school for students from disadvantaged backgrounds.

Any sponsorship you collect during the Climb A Virtual Mountain challenge will go to the Newcastle Student Fund, supporting current and future generations of Newcastle graduates.
