Volunteer at a North East School

Play a vital role in raising aspirations in the North East

Are you a Newcastle University colleague, graduate or student who went to school in the North East of England? If so, we want to hear from you!

The North East has the highest proportion of deprived households in the country, with 54.6% deprived in at least one dimension (employment, education, housing, health). To help our local community reach its potential, we're partnering with local schools during NCL in Action 2024 to raise the aspirations of the next generation. Will you help us?

We're seeking Newcastle University colleagues, graduates and students who went to school in the North East to share their stories and to offer advice to school pupils who feel university isn't for them. This is also an opportunity for you to connect with your former primary or secondary school, whilst supporting current pupils to raise their aspirations.
