Nadine Aisha Jassat is the author of acclaimed poetry collection Let Me Tell You This (404 Ink, 2019), and her writing has been published widely in popular anthologies including It’s Not About The Burqa (shortlisted for Foyles NonFiction Book of The Year). Her debut verse novel The Stories Grandma Forgot (And How I Found Them) will be published by Hachette Children’s Group in May 2023.

Jackie Kay is a poet, playwright, and novelist. She was the Scottish Makar 2016 – 2021 and Professor of Creative Writing at Newcastle University until 2022.

Jackie has been assisted in planning and organising this event by Newcastle University students Anna Holland, Lauren Reid and Rachel Taylor who will be joining Jackie on the night.
