An Evening with Natalie Ibu, Artistic Director of Northern Stage

From starting during the pandemic to bringing the European premier of Claudia Rankine’s The White Card to Northern Stage, Artistic Director Natalie Ibu has brought the lights wonderfully back up at Newcastle’s beloved theatre. Join us to hear about her adventures in theatre so far, and her vision for the 2022 season, This is Now which invites artists and audiences to join a year-long conversation about who we are and who we want to be; to think deeply about the important questions of our time, and to find refuge in coming together to imagine our way through the world we live in, right now.

Natalie Ibu is the Artistic Director and Joint CEO of Northern Stage - the largest producing theatre company in the North East of England. Previous roles have included Artistic Director and CEO of tiata fahodzi, Creative Producer at In Good Company and at Derby Theatre she launched the regional artist development programme for the East Midlands. She has completed residencies at the Royal Court, New York Theatre Workshop, the National Theatre Studio, Royal Shakespeare Company, Citizens’ Theatre and Contact. Awards include Dewar Arts Award for Exceptional Artists Under 30, Time Warner Ignite 2, IdeasTap Innovator’s Award and the Lilian Baylis Award for Theatrical Excellence.

Tina Gharavi is Senior Lecturer in English; Digital Media/Film at Newcastle University.
