THE PREMONITIONS BUREAU: Sam Knight in conversation with Daniel James

Date/Time: Wednesday 17th May, 7pm to 8pm

Venue: Culture Lab, Newcastle University

Sam Knight is a British writer, known for his longform journalism on subjects that include sandwiches, art fraud, Ronnie O’Sullivan, Brexit and the death of the Queen. He has been a staff writer at the New Yorker since 2018. Previously, his work appeared in The Guardian, The Financial Times, Harper’s and Grantland. The Premonitions Bureau (Faber & Faber, 2022) is his first book; an enthralling story of a strange experiment – a journey into the oddest corners of 60s Britain and the outer edges of science and reason, ‘beautifully ordered, humane and capacious’ (Hilary Mantel). The Premonitions Bureau was a Sunday Times bestseller and serialised on BBC Radio 4 in 2022.

Daniel James is an author and journalist from Newcastle upon Tyne. His debut novel, The Unauthorised Biography of Ezra Maas ‘the ultimate postmodern noir’ (The Times) was recently published in a new special edition format by Valley Press.

Free event, and all very welcome.
