The Poetry of Policing

At this year's Newcastle Poetry Festival, NCLA will be launching The Poetry of Policing by Christy Ducker, which features a preface by police and crime commissioner for Northumbria police, Vera Baird QC. The pamphlet is the result of Christy’s role as poet in residence with the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner in 2015. Christy will be reading at the festival at 1pm, Saturday 7th May.

 

Christy Ducker lives in Northumberland. She recently completed a PhD at Newcastle University, researching and writing poems about the Victorian lighthousekeeper, Grace Darling. She was a winner in the 2010 Poetry Business Book & Pamphlet Competition with Armour which was also named PBS Pamphlet Choice for Autumn 2011. Her first full-length collection, Skipper was published in 2015
