“IAFRI and other animals” – What IAFRI and the role of Scientific Project Manager can do for you

Institute for Agri-Food Research and Innovation - Steven Hall

Date/Time: Friday 19 October 2018, 12:00 - 13:00

Venue: Barbara Strang Teaching Centre, Room B.32

IAFRI is a unique research institute as it is governed by both the University and a commercial research organisation, Fera Science Ltd.

Its main function is to span the ‘valley of death’ (TRL 3- TRL 6) by concentrating primarily on translational research.

Chemistry have received funding for seedcorn and PhD projects.

As well as providing administrative support for IAFRI, my role also covers that of:

  • scientific programme manager
  • general fixer for administrative processes
  • systems development for research projects

I intend to demonstrate some of the problems I have solved and systems I have developed for AFRD academics with a view of helping chemists in a similar way if they want.

This talk is very much about “what I can do for you”.

I see loads of opportunities to assist in research and teaching activities, especially with the introduction of the tablet PCs for UG.
