Agricultural Production Systems PhD Students

Project description

I am investigating how selective herbicides reach their target site using a pharmacokinetic approach. Based on this, I will develop kinetic models. These will provide better understanding of the basis of enhanced metabolism in non-target site resistance.

This project is funded by a BBSRC DTP CASE studentship with Durham University and Waters Corporation as the industry partner.

The approach will involve the use of mass spectrometry to allow real-time monitoring and in-situ imaging of the herbicides. This will be coupled with studies using fluorescence probes for bio-imaging to validate mass spectrometry methods verses optical localisation of xenobiotics.

Interests

  • Mass spectrometry, amateur pirate.

  • M.Chem Applied Chemistry, Northumbria University
