Daniel Blake

I am a PhD student and qualified veterinarian based at FERA Science Limited in York, working in collaboration with Professor Ilias Kyriazakis and Dr Edward Haynes of FERA Science Limited. My project is funded through a scholarship from the Institute for Agri-Food Research and Innovation (IAFRI). The focus of my research is the use of high-throughput sequencing technology as support tool in the research and diagnosis of mastitis in dairy cattle.

My research seeks to address key issues in mastitis management such as the failure rate in culture-dependent diagnostic methods and the potential development and dissemination of antimicrobial resistance due to the use of antibioitcs in dairy cattle.
