Project description

I am a second year MPhil student studying the effects of electric fields on shark foraging behaviour.

Specifically, I'm looking at the anthropogenic induced electric fields from marine renewable power cables and inter-country connectors. I'm using the native catshark Scyliorhinus canicula as a model.

The data will be used in conjunction with existing maps of the North Sea seafloor to calculate the potential area where human interference effects the ability of sharks to detect prey, and how this effect differs with different prey species.

Interests

Scuba diving, ecology and ecosystem interactions

  • BSc (Hons) Marine Zoology
