Research Assistant

Background

Completed a Chemistry masters (MChem) at Newcastle University. Also in writing up phase of PhD (year 4) with School of Engineering. Projects involved the designing of high-resolution printing approaches for graphene-based inks as well as investigations into the reduction of graphene oxide films through chemical and thermal methods. Other work has involved the synthesis and printing of covalentlyfunctionalised graphene materials as well as the electrical characterisation of reduced graphene oxide platelets on the nanoscale through conductive AFM (cAFM). Current research is on the synthesis and printing of semiconducting DNA-templated nanowires for use in labelling and gas sensing technologies, in collaboration with Touchlight Genetics Ltd, Hampton.

Area of Expertise

Graphene-based materials, DNA nanowire technologies, inkjet printing.
