The Rail Industry Research Strategy (RIRS), which was published in December 2007, established a set of strategic priorities for rail research to support the delivery of the rail industry’s long-term vision for the railway, as expressed in the Rail Technical Strategy and Rail White Paper. The RIRS also considered how rail-related research is managed, delivered and funded.
The project was set up to:
Evaluate the benefits of completed rail research Draw lessons from current and past research to inform future research Put in place a mechanism to track the benefits of future research
