About Us

Create the future of ageing with us

Providing insights to brands and enterprise, Ageing IntelligenceTM is allowing business to capitalise on the longevity economy.

Leveraging the experience and expertise of older adults while harnessing big data, the UK National Innovation Centre for Ageing is uniquely positioned to optimise the opportunities provided by the demographic revolution.

This brings the ability to personalise user experiences and generate insights into customer needs and wants, and takes advantage of new opportunities generating new revenue streams.

Applying Ageing IntelligenceTM to data enables organisations to generate new insights and patterns and learn continuously from existing and real time data.

Set up in 2014, the UK's National Innovation Centre for Ageing is a world-leading organisation, created with a £40 million investment from UK Government and Newcastle University.

Our vision is to create a world in which we all live better, for longer.

  • Ageing IntelligenceTM   provides commercial insight into the ageing population and their wider social circle (stakeholders)

  • Leading on innovations that improve all aspects of life for our ageing societies
  • Working collaboratively to create a society that is better equipped to meet the opportunities and challenges associated with ageing populations
  • The Catalyst is our new ground breaking facility that is home to the UK’s National Innovation Centre for Ageing and the National Innovation Centre for Data.
  • Bringing together world-leading innovation experts, scientists, industry and the public, to develop, test and bring to market products and services which enhance and improve all aspects of life for our ageing societies
  • Continually challenge what we know about growing older

Our areas of focus include:

  • Living better for longer - helping us all stay as healthy and well as possible as we age
  • Future mobility - developing innovative solutions for transport and travel
  • Consumer products and Financial products & services - providing choices to older consumers
  • Age-friendly places – adapting our built and social environments and creating homes we can live in for longer so that we can maximise the quality of our later years
  • Ageing & Data - harnessing the power of artificial intelligence and data to improve lives
  • Inclusive design - ensuring that products and services meet our needs, whatever our age or ability

Funded by Newcastle University,  UK Research and Innovation, we are also housed with the National Innovation Centre for Data, NIRHIO and other businesses. Our iconic new building, The Catalyst, is at the heart of Newcastle Helix, a 24 acre, £350 million, vibrant innovation district.
