Volunteer Placements

Volunteer Placements

We offer a small number of volunteer research experience placements for undergraduate students during the summer vacation, and occasionally at other times of the year.

How to apply

To apply, identify the principal investigator whose work interests you. Contact them via their academic email address.

The offer of a research placement is at the discretion of the principal investigator. Make sure you include a short paragraph indicating why you are interested in the work of a particular principal investigator.

You also need to include:

  • a short CV detailing your academic qualifications (including qualifications you have obtained on your current course)
  • your availability over the summer period
  • a brief description of your particular interest in cancer biology
  • your career aspirations
  • how you would benefit from a research placement with us

Due to health and safety restrictions we are not able to offer hands-on research experience to school students aged under 18 years of age.

Funding for summer research placements is available from several sources:

Information on how to apply for these and other schemes is posted during November and December for fellowships in the following summer.
