Fellowship Offer

What does a NUAcT Fellowship offer?

We want all of our NUAcT Fellows to succeed and become research leaders in their field, and we offer an extensive package of support including:

  • five years' salary (£40,792 - £48,676), which is fully flexible according to an individual’s needs
  • initial fixed term five-year appointment with expected progression to an open-ended faculty contract, subject to formal review after 3-4 years
  • start-up costs and ongoing research expenses (up to £50k, subject to research programme needs)
  • funding for a 3-year PhD student associated with the research programme
  • access to cutting edge research facilities and world class centres of research

In addition to the generous salary and research expenses, our dedicated NUAcT Team run a tailored programme of events and activities to support the career development of our fellows and each fellow benefits from:

  • an experienced mentor with world-leading expertise and significant research management experience, who meets regularly with them to discuss their research and career plans
  • one-to-one meetings with a member of our Organisational Development team to design an individualised Personal Development Plan to build research and leadership skills across the lifetime of the fellowship (and beyond)
  • attending our bespoke 6-month PI Development Programme that helps fellows establish themselves as leaders and managers, and become more strategic in their research careers
  • a rolling programme of training workshops and activities to develop research and professional skills
  • meetings with our research funding teams to help fellows identify national and international funding routes to support the delivery and development of their research
  • peer support from a cross-disciplinary of talented early career researchers providing networking and collaboration opportunities

NUAcT Fellowships are fully flexible and can incorporate job share and less-than-full-time working. Fellowships will be extended to take account of periods of parental or extended leave and to accommodate part-time working. Additional mentorship and support is offered to those returning to their fellowships from periods of long term leave, whatever the reason. We understand that individuals have different needs and will tailor our support package around these.
