City of Literature workshop

City of Literature workshop

City of Literature: Workshop and Planning event.

Newcastle City Literacy and Literature is a partnership which aims to provide a framework for improving literacy
and celebrating literature in the city.

There is much to celebrate in Newcastle: our rich publishing history and our wealth of independent publishers
today; the strong creative writing scene and the inspiration for literature that the city provides; the literary festivals
and organisations that promote literature in the region. At the same time, Newcastle and the North East face a
range of challenges in literacy rates which are strongly linked to economic disadvantage and ill health.

This workshop aims to bring together those across the city with an interest in sharing expertise and pursuing
collaborations to address challenges and to enhance the vibrancy of literacy and literature in the city.
