Staff Profile

Stephen Hughes

Lecturer in Pharmacy Practice

I have over 25 years of experience as a professional practitioner in community pharmacy. I have combined this with my multi-disciplinary research into long-term illness self-management, and advocacy for pharmacy and health system improvement through national and state-based committee and governance roles.

My teaching philosophy involves prioritising face-to face teaching, professional mentorship, leadership and role modelling. My teaching activities focus on supporting students to achieve measurable academic outcomes. However, I strive to do this within a broader view of health professionals as individuals with professional behavioural responsibilities and accountabilities to the health and wellbeing of patients and their communities.
