Teaching Rationale And Relationship
Lectures are used to introduce core concepts including data types, data sources, analysis and presentation.
Practical's are used to provide hands-on exposure to data location, acquisition and synthesis. A number of processes are applied to the data to answer real-world problems and the results collated and presented in map and report form.
The format of resits will be determined by the Board of Examiners

Assessment Rationale And Relationship
Coursework 1 assesses core competencies in data handling, analysis and map presentation.
Coursework 2 requires the student to locate and acquire suitable data from a variety of sources, process the data to use in the GIS, select and apply the correct geo-processing methods and tools and to create outputs that present the results so that they can be interpreted easily. The written element will demonstrate critical analysis of data sources and processes applied and assess the interpretation of the analytical process.
