To provide an opportunity to pursue original research.
To give experience in working independently, with a minimum of external structuring.
To apply knowledge gained from the other modules in the programme.
To conduct a substantial research project in the area of the programme: Cloud Computing for Big Data.
Outline Of Syllabus
Students are expected to choose a project from a list offered by potential supervisors, or to propose their own project and find a suitable supervisor. As well as writing a dissertation, they are also required to produce a Web site about their project and demonstrate what they have achieved.

Assessment Rationale And Relationship
As a practical research module, a dissertation will assess the students’ ability to present the results of their own practical work, and to draw conclusions from this work. The web site and oral presentation will develop skills in presenting a short summary of their work in an accessible way.
