Every 18 months commencing in either January or July as part of a 3 module continuous programme.
This module aims to develop the students' clinical skills in restoring dental implants with a variety of superstructure types, and formulating patient-specific plans to help maintain implant restorations. The module also aims to consolidate the students' understanding about the principles of establishing implant treatment in the dental practice setting.

Teaching Rationale And Relationship
Small group teaching aims to convey information about production aspects of implant prostheses. It is delivered jointly by a clinician and a technologist allowing a question and answer approach.
The Drop-in surgery reinforces the information delivered in small group teaching by giving students the opportunity to visit dental practices and their teams who have successfully established implant dentistry into the services they provide.
Supervised clinical training through clinical observation and clinical practice provide the means of developing the intended skill outcomes of this module.
The workshops provide an opportunity for students to present, reflect on, and peer-review the patient treatments they have carried out.

Assessment Rationale And Relationship
The aim of the practical exam (OSCE) is to test clinical competence by assessing knowledge, understanding, interpretation of clinical information, skills performance and management of aspects of implant dentistry in a standardised way.
The aim of the coursework: essay is to provide assessment of problems solving skills, deeper understanding, and the ability to apply knowledge and understanding to new situations including those pertaining to the introduction of implant dentistry in the dental practice setting.
The aim of the case study and oral examination is to demonstrate evidence of clinical competence in implant dentistry by allowing the student to demonstrate clinical outcomes as well as synthesis of information and evaluation of outcomes.
