Aims
This module identifies the key role of leadership in creating the effective educational institution. Closely linked to this role is the need for a critical awareness of the strategic planning process as a means by which one’s vision can be achieved. The module makes use of a problem-based approach that allows students to engage with leadership and management issues.

Assessment Rationale And Relationship
A 3,500-4,000 word assignment (+/-10%) assesses the student’s knowledge and understanding of the theories, current thinking and key issues as they relate to management and leadership and the strategic management of educational institutions. In addition, the assignment explores the extent to which the student has a critical grasp of relevant research literature and knowledge of the policy framework that relates to educational institutions and their own practice/experience of leadership.
