The aim of this module is to provide students with a framework for the assessment of projects and investment opportunities within the firm, in the context of the regulatory and environmental constraints faced by the organisation.
Outline Of Syllabus
Firm Objectives – maximizing shareholder wealth: theory and evidence.
Project Planning and Evaluation – various tools to make investment decisions.
Forecasting Cash Flows – accounting flows, tax, working capital, cost allocation, transfer pricing, and international investment, etc.
Project Management – business models and creating value in projects and investments, real investment options, mergers and acquisitions, and capital structure, etc.
Project Financing – IPO, warrants and convertible bonds, financial leasing and operating leasing, and risk management, etc.
Financial Markets and Financial Models – the macroeconomic context of financial markets, the goal and decisions of financial organisations, the financial system and competitive process, and the conditional and unconditional models on mutual fund performance, etc.
Financial Anomalies and Investment Opportunities – price and style momentum, IPO short- and long-run performance, and investment value of analyst recommendations, etc.
Regulatory and Environmental Constraints – models dealing with competition, utilities, price cap, and environmental reporting, etc.
