Semester 3 Credit Value: 60
ECTS Credits: 30.0

Aims

To enable students to devise, conduct, and report the results of a substantial research project. The research project will always include a critical review of the relevant academic literature and will explore the methodological issues in the project area.

To allow students to demonstrate the ability to apply the knowledge, skills and understanding gained on the programme to a specific empirical or theoretical focus within an individual project or dissertation.

Outline Of Syllabus

This module does not entail class-based activity. The module leader manages the key activities of informing students about the dissertation process and the School’s research policies; allocating dissertation supervisors to students; and overseeing students’ dissertation journey.

Meetings with supervisor are designed to support the student during the process. This interaction is likely to comprise meetings as part of a small group of dissertation students and others on an individual basis.

Private study recognises that the extended project offers the student the opportunity to practice managing a relatively major investigation independently and to synthesise and apply knowledge gained.
