Confirming Your Identity

Confirming Your Identity

As an International Student you must confirm your identity and immigration status.

Further information regarding how to do this during the September registration period can be found below:

International students

To comply with Home Office regulations, all international students must have their identification documents checked and copies taken, as well as their right to study checked. It is important that you have valid immigration permission which allows you to study at Newcastle University to maintain your registration.

The University's Visa Support Team will contact you directly to request the aforementioned immigration documentation.

If you cannot show your original documents because you have applied for a new visa, you will need to provide evidence of the application. We will need to see your document checklist, which you can download from the Home Office system, or a document to confirm that you have made a biometric appointment.

The University reserves the right to enquire about the process of any pending applications with the Home Office. We'll check that applications have been made in time and are valid. If you have overstayed your previous visa or if your application is likely to be refused, your registration will be at risk. Your registration may be terminated if you do not have the right to study at Newcastle University.

Contact the Visa Support Team for information and support about your visa. We can help with applying for a new visa from outside the UK, switching to Newcastle University from another UK Institution, and complying with your Tier 4 Visa.

UK/EU (including Norway) students

All students should complete their online registration via the S3P portal and download the University App. On the app, you should follow the step by step guide found on the Receiving your Smartcard page. You must also upload a photo of yourself to be used on your Smartcard. The app is available from the Apple App Store and Google Play

During the January registration period, non-EU students please go to King's Gate, and home/EU students please go to the Robinson or Walton Libraries to do this.
