Airport Meet and Greet

The airport meet and greet service for students travelling to Newcastle is now closed.

At the start of each Semester we offer a meet and greet service at Newcastle Airport. The Airport Meet & Greet service for the 2021-22 academic year ran from 6-19th September.

If you are travelling to the UK please ensure that you follow the Government requirements, that you need to adhere to. The requirements differ depending on the country you are travelling from (including those you travel through in the 10 days before arriving in the UK)

In addition to this, UK Border Control have detailed guidance on how to prepare for the UK border. Please look at this guidance before arrival to make your arrival into the UK as smooth as possible. You should also familiarise yourself with the arrival requirements that are determined by the country you have travelled from or the countries you have travelled through in the 10 days before arriving in the UK.

Everyone entering the UK must receive a negative Covid result, complete a passenger locator form in the 48 hour period before they are due to travel to the UK and book a Travel Test Package.  Please make sure you complete this form before you travel to avoid delays at border control.

Arriving outside of operating times, or those not requesting assistance

The airport meet and greet service for semester 1 of 2021-22 has now ended, so you will have to make your own way to your accommodation. Details of the best way to do this are on our Travelling to Newcastle page.

Staying in University owned or managed accommodation

Once you arrive at Newcastle International Airport or Newcastle Central Station, we recommend you take a taxi to your accommodation. During office hours the reception team will greet you and will organise your key for you. Please follow the instructions given by our accommodation team regarding key collection.

If you are arriving on an evening or weekend, we recommend that you call security on +44 191 208 6817 from the airport/train station and let them know that you are en route to your accommodation. They will meet you at your accommodation with your key and will let you into the building. If you are unable to call security you can use the help point at the main door of your accommodation to call security. The security team member will then bring your key to the accommodation to enable you to gain access. Please note that you may have to wait for security to arrive. Our security team will all be wearing University uniform and will have ID with them.

Staying in private accommodation

We recommend that you contact your accommodation provider before you travel to find out how to gain access to your accommodation. We advise you to find out the arrangements for accessing your accommodation outside of normal working hours (i.e. evenings and weekend) so you know what to do in the event that your arrival in Newcastle is delayed.
