Darren Johnson - Newly appointed Lecturer in Forensic Psychology

One of our recent appointments in the School of Psychology is Darren Johnson who has joined us as Lecturer in Forensic Psychology.  Darren is a Chartered Psychologist and a Scientist with the British Psychological Society (BPS), registered as a Forensic Psychologist with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), an Associate Fellow of the BPS, and he holds a European standard qualification in psychology.  Darren has had extensive experience working with offenders in a range of settings, predominantly the Prison Service.

Darren will primarily teach on the MSc in Forensic Psychology.  Prior to this, Darren was a Senior Lecturer at Teesside University and within this role, he was the Programme Director for the MSc Forensic Psychology and Professional Doctorate in Psychology.  He also took the role of Programme Leader for the BSc (hons) in Forensic Psychology.

Darren's research interests are concerned with the evaluation of offending behaviour interventions, personality disordered and psychopathic offenders and co-morbidities within offender populations.  Alongside his academic work, Darren provides expert psychological services as an Independent Forensic Psychologist (assessment, treatment, consultation services within the forensic field and supervision of trainee psychologists).
