The University is committed to supporting its staff and students to manage their research data according to the best practice in their field.

Many of the Research Data Management activities will be familiar to researchers:

  • Considering data collection before a project starts
  • How research data is collected, stored and processed during a project
  • The long-term preservation of data for potential re-use in the future

Draft University Policy on Research Data Managment

Newcastle University has agreed a DRAFT policy made up of ten policy principles and a code of good practice. All research projects undertaken by Newcastle University staff and its postgraduate students are covered by the policy and code of good practice.

The policy applies to ALL data regardless of format, whether or not the research is funded and relates to projects active at / from the time of the policy approval.

The RDS is a four-way partnership between the Library, Research Office, NUIT (Newcastle University IT service) and faculties.
