Vesela Harizanova is a PhD candidate at Newcastle University with a background in discourse studies, feminism and critical theory of media, culture and society. Her research interests broadly concern the role of discourse and power in producing and legitimising inequality. Her PhD thesis is a critical assessment of the discursive appropriation of feminism in neoliberal times.

Vesela's role is to contribute to REWP’s research programme and impact portfolio under the direct guidance and supervision of the Centre’s Director. Her responsibilities range across research, project management, public engagement and dialogue.

She is involved in REWP's longstanding research project entitled Philanthropy, Enterprise and Society in North East England with Charles Harvey, Mairi Maclean and Michael Price. She is also the project manager and web editor of Philanthropy North East.
