The best things about ICMuS: “The course helped me to broaden my own musical experience, develop as an academic, and form strong friendships that still exist today. I really enjoyed the variety of theoretical and practical modules on offer. One of my favourites was ‘Music in the Holocaust’ (with some Yiddish language alongside). My lecturers were friendly and helpful, and very knowledgeable. The calibre of the performance tuition was extremely impressive – receiving lessons from one of the leading violinists of Royal Northern Sinfonia is something I’ll never take for granted. Studying music at Newcastle helped me to grow in self-confidence. I never thought I would end up leading singing sessions for 200 students at a time, or conducting an orchestra for the prestigious Academy events in front of 1000 people.”
