Last week, Lecturer in Music and Head of Performance Larry Zazzo sang the title role in Handel’s oratorio Solomon on the stage of the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, accompanied by Christian Curnyn’s Early Opera Company and the ROH Chorus. This is the first time the piece has been heard in the ROH since 1749, when Handel premiered it at the then Covent Garden Theatre.
