City Information

The regeneration of the historical Quayside area provides a stunning setting for the city's seven bridges, with many pubs and restaurants offering spectacular views of the riverside. The QuayLink bus services provides easy access between the Quayside and the city centre.

The city's many pubs, restaurants and cafes cater for all tastes, and film buffs can choose from multiscreen cinemas at the MetroCentre and The Gate, and independents such as Tyneside Cinema, housed in a recently and sumptuously refurbished art deco building.

Theatre-goers are well accommodated by the Grade I listed Theatre Royal as well as more intimate settings at Live Theatre and Northern Stage. The Mill Volvo Tyne Theatre hosts contemporary comedy and concerts in the world's oldest working Victorian Theatre.

The Stand Comedy Club offers comedy on every night of the week and attracts some of the biggest names, and the newly renovated Hyena cafe hosts up and coming acts on Friday and Saturday.
