Memorandum of Understanding
Founded in 1946, Arup has grown to being one of the world's largest engineering consultancies. Arup's founding partner, Ove Arup, was born in Newcastle.
The Memorandum of Understanding with Arup builds on a long track record of collaboration. This includes:

- Royal Academy Fellow lectureships
Current works include:
- Arup staff doing undergraduate and postgradute teaching and curriculum design
- joint research and exploration of climate change impacts, adaptation and carbon sequestration
- infrastructure systems – including the modelling of networks, structures and soils

- energy-efficient buildings
- intelligent urban transport systems
- integrated resource modelling
