GIS for Teachers

GIS for Teachers

A free course for secondary school teachers. Discover and start using GIS in a variety of subjects.

Geographical Information Systems (GIS) are increasingly important. They are a core topic in the GCSE and A level Geography programmes.

You can use GIS in other subjects too. Websites such as Google Maps mean the technology, and the science behind it, are increasingly part of everyday life. A wide variety of applications use GIS. We use it in everything from social media to supermarkets, emergency response to earthquake monitoring.

This one-day course introduces:
  • the science behind GIS
  • the basic skills you need to use it in the classroom
  • software and applications
We will show how you could incorporate GIS into your teaching, using a variety of examples.

This course is free of charge. To be eligible for the course you must be working as a secondary school teacher.
