PhD Opportunities

We have a strong relationship with UK Research and Innovation (UKRI). In particular, the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) and Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) funding councils, through which we are able to offer various fully funded PhD opportunities:

  • cohort training via our Centres for Doctoral Training (CDTs)
  • individual Doctoral Training Partnership (DTP) awards
  • industrial funded awards

Newcastle University and UKRI value individual differences and the diversity that this brings. We want to ensure that no one is at a disadvantage because of who they are, and we strongly encourage applications from diverse groups, including those with additional needs, caring responsibilities etc. Find out more about our supportive community in the equality, diversity and inclusion section.

We are also part of The Alan Turing Institute, the UK’s national institute for data science and artificial intelligence.
