Staff Profile

Claire Nicoll

Faculty Learning & Teaching Asst Mgr-T

I have worked within the Learning and Teaching sector of Higher Education for 25 years.  I first came to the University to work within the School of Physics as a Clerical Assistant back in 1994, which was then based in the Herschel Building.   It was around 2000, when the School merged with the Chemistry Department to become the School of Natural Sciences.  When Physics was dissolved, we returned to the School of Chemistry where I was the School Office Manager.  From here, I moved to the new Urban Sciences Building on the Helix site to be the Learning and Teaching Team Leader for the School of Computing.  In December 2018 I took the position of Learning and Teaching Assistant Manager (Strategic Projects) within the SAgE Faculty Office.

What I can help you with:

My role is to help Schools bring on board new programmes and ease the pressure of completing all the paperwork that this task can bring.  For this, I work alongside Learning and Teaching Managers and Directors of Learning and Teaching to help collate all information ready for the Faculty Programme Approval Committee.

Another part of the role is to manage large tasks, such as External Reviews, Curriculum Committees etc, which are extra responsibilities for those in the Schools.
