Where Could a Chemistry A Level Take You?

Discover the opportunities in Chemistry and beyond.

Date/Time: Thursday 20 June, 10:00 - 16:00

Venue: Newcastle University

Year 12 students will have the opportunity to take part in taster sessions of related degree courses and chat to current students, academics and researchers to get some inspiration on what the future could look like for you.

You will take part in three of the following workshops on the day. We will try our best to allocate groups based on your preferred choices but cannot guarantee everyone will get all their choices.

  • Chemical Engineering [must be studying A Level Maths]
    Brewery Distillation @ The Millennium Laboratory - This hands-on workshop will involve learning about the key process of distillation in a Brewery.

  • Chemistry 
    Find out what its like to study a chemistry degree at Newcastle University.

  • Earth Science 
    Discover the chemistry of the Earth in this Geochemistry workshop. 

  • Pharmacology [must be studying at least one other science A Level]
    This workshop will give you an introduction to Pharmacology at Newcastle University looking at some of the commonly used terms used in pharmacological research and looking at some of the mechanisms behind how some commonly used drugs work in the human body

  • Pharmacy [must be studying at least one other science A Level] 
    Find out what is involved in Pharmacy degree and take part in a practical lab session.

Not all workshops may be available on the day but we will confirm your allocations in early June. If the event is over subscribed we may have to apply selection criteria
