Meet the Team

Our enthusiastic STEM Outreach Team are dedicated to raising the aspirations of young people and informing them about the many opportunities available within STEM. Within the team we have a variety of specialisms and decades of experience in teaching and science communication.

Outreach Manager
I lead the STEM Outreach Team at Newcastle University. As a Forensic Science graduate and qualified teacher who has worked in a range of STEM, heritage and arts management roles, I have experience of working with a large variety of young people. I have a passion for creating meaningful opportunities which can have a great impact on people's lives, decision making and futures.

Outreach Officer
I graduated from Newcastle University in 2015 with a BSc in Biology and Psychology. As an Outreach Officer, I manage the Street Science team, run workshops in schools and organise events on campus. I’m keen to promote the exciting world of STEM and the opportunities it can offer to young people. I’m particularly interested in engaging more girls in STEM as they’re currently under-represented in the field.

Outreach Officer
I studied BSc and PhD degrees in Chemistry at Durham University, followed by a PGCE in Chemistry & PE at Newcastle University. I enjoyed a 20-year stint teaching at Ponteland Community High School in Northumberland and 9 years as a Chemistry Outreach Officer at the University. I now work as an Outreach Officer, developing and delivering STEM activities, including chemistry, to a wide range of audiences.

Graduate Ambassador
Having recently graduated with a BSc in Mathematics and Statistics from Newcastle University in July 2018, I am excited to contribute to the work of the SAgE faculty. Interacting with students from schools and colleges across the country, I will help to raise awareness of higher education choices relating to STEM careers for those that may never have considered it before.
